| Tom Spencer is the author of the book Soldier-Teacher War Memorials. The book documents war memorials to teachers who served in overseas conflicts. The memorials are mainly located at the NSW Department of Education building in Bridge Street, Sydney, and also at TAFE NSW - Sydney Institute, Ultimo; the University of Sydney (formerly in the old Sydney Teachers College building) and the NSW Teachers Federation Conference Centre, Reservoir Street, Surry Hills. |
| This framed collage of pages from the book, including the book cover, was presented to Tom Spencer by Dr. Ken Boston, Director General of Education and Training, at the book launch, 2001, as a memento of his achievement. |
| Tom Spencer was the Treasurer of the Teachers’ Sub-Branch RSL. After his passing, in 2015, the memento was presented to the President of the AEU NSW Teachers Federation Branch, Maurie Mulheron, by Tom Spencer’s niece, Christine Smith, on 11.12.15. |
