General Note
"Dulwich High strikes / Rae Desmond Jones and Fionie Stavert. Staff and students at Dulwich High went on strike on September 7 to protest against plans to close their school. During the strike students and teachers marched on local MP Andrew Refshauge's office over the 'unfair dismantling of our school through a process which is not transparent.' The strike on September 7 was led by a representation of Sir Henry Parkes [Peter Ayres] who strode at the head of the procession with his magnificent white beard and stovepipe hat. Speaking like a prophet of old, he compared his achievements in the 1880 Education Reform Act with the puny rhetoric of the present Government ... Fed Rep Pat Byrnes handed over a large bundle containing more than 1500 individual letters of protest collected from the area. Dr Refshauge wasn't present to receive them personally." -- Education Vol. 82 No. 10 (17 Sep 2001), p. 8.
A collection of photographs and captions of Dulwich High strike, contributed by Guri MacKinnon, May 2019. Includes letter of transfer from Guri MacKinnon.
Guri MacKinnon was awarded life membership of the NSW Teachers Federation in 2003.
