General Note This TAFE salaries decision (before Justices P. Fisher, J. Bauer, and J. Hungerford) meant "[a]n increase in teacher loads of two hours per week [18 hours to 20 hours] for 40% of TAFE teachers; loss of time off in lieu penalty rate for night work. This has been replaced by a cash loading. However, this further increases teaching hours from half an hour to six hours per week, depending upon the amount of night hours taught by a teacher. This is in addition to the increased teaching loads previously mentioned; Those who lost the most gained the least as the Commission ratified the employer's package, which was designed to split trade teachers away from other TAFE teachers; Up to 600 teachers are in danger of being made redundant....; The Commission overturned 25 years of its own decisions in wiping out TAFE teachers' working conditions." - "Education", Vol. 72, No. 13, 2 September 1991, p. 2.
