General Note This first sky channel telecast to Federation members in NSW took place on Tuesday September 12, 1989. This video of the meeting is preceded by a news report from Channel 9 News which said that 50,000 teachers were linked across 140 outlets, with the cost being twenty-five thousand dollars, and could be the way for all strike meetings to be held in the future.
The broadcast was chaired by Jane Singleton. The Panel consisted of Phil Cross, President ; Ray Cavenagh, Deputy President ; and Sharan Burrow, Senior Vice-President. Other Federation Officers who spoke were Col Rennie, Helen MacGregor, Cathy Bloch, Pat Simpson. Questions were received from the audience and by telephone, including Ann Junor, Geoff Amos, Harvey Rose, John Mitchell, Kevin Wall, Sherry Fletcher and Greg Smith. Phil Cross put the resolution to the meeting. Jane Singleton advised members to have their responses in by "next Friday, 15th September 1989".
