Ebenezer Dash archive : Items 13-15. Diary of a voyage around the world 1926 /
Ebenezer Dash was the second President of the NSW Public School Teachers’ Federation, 1920-1922, and 1924. An account of the 7 month overseas trip taken by Ebenezer Dash, accompanied by his wife Minnie and son Kenneth, in an attempt to rehabilitate his health. The text describes Ebenezer’s deteriorating health on the return voyage to Australia. Preface in copy: “In 1925, Ebenezer Dash, Headmaster of Burwood Intermediate High School, declined nomination for a fifth term as President of the NSW Public School Teachers’ Federation because of his ill-health … on the 21st December of that year, the Federation presented him with an illustrated address and a cheque in recognition of his distinguished service. Ebenezer used the Federation’s gift to help pay for a long overseas holiday, accompanied by his wife, Minnie, and their elder son, Ken … Unfortunately the outcome for Ebenezer was not as he had hoped. His health deteriorated markedly towards the end of the trip and he died within 12 months of arriving home.” – Keith Dash.
