Focusing on the Yolngu people of Elcho Island, northeast Arnhem land, this documentary "looks at Australia’s ongoing policies of paternalism and assimilation, explains the real issues underlying Indigenous disadvantage in this 'lucky' country, and upholds the right of First Australians to dignity, culture and empowerment in their own country." - Film website.
Includes music by Yothu Yindi, John Butler Trio, Archie Roach and others.
Classification: Exempt (The producers advise that if there were a classification it would be PG as there is no violence, sex, drugs or swearing in the film).
The cinema release copies of this DVD are 73 minutes in length, while the television version is 52 minutes long.
The screening license issued by the film's producers allows the film to be screened in the NSW Teachers Federation Library as well as loaned to library users for private viewing.
