Summary Note
As part of a broader study on the vocational education and training workforce in Australia, the Productivity Commission recently conducted research and consultations into workforce issues in the early childhood sector. This report presents the findings and recommendations of the study, which looked at current and future workforce demand, workforce supply, composition and skills, and planning and development. It includes information on the workforce in the areas of family day care, outside school hours care, children with additional needs, rural and remote areas, family support services, child health, and Indigenous children; as well issues concerning government involvement, planning, and service integration.
