Poster text: NSW Teachers Federation. Peace with the Indigenous People. Celebrating the International Year. This is one of a series of posters marking the International Year of the World's Indigenous Peoples. The artwork was an entry in the annual Sam Lewis Peace Awards. Sam Lewis was President of the Teachers Federation 1945-1952 and 1964-1968 and a strong advocate of peace and international co-operation. The theme for the 1993 awards was 'Peace with the World's Indigenous Peoples'.
Artist Alison Tate was born in Darwin in 1982 and currently attends Harcourt Public School in Campsie. Her mother is Korean and her father English and she speaks both languages. Alison began art lessons in March of this year.
