Dash jacket / Julieann Marino.
Collection code: Artworks At the Treasures Friday Forum on February 18 2022, held to mark the centenary of the official opening of the Teachers Federation Library in 1922, former General Secretary John Dixon, donated his ‘Dash jacket’ to the library. The jacket had been made for John by Julieann Marino in 2018, the year of the NSW Teachers Federation centenary, and also the year in which the grandsons of Ebenezer Dash, the Federation’s second President, transferred an archive of Ebenezer Dash artefacts to the Federation. The archive included photographs, letters and illuminated addresses. Appliquéd to the back of the denim jacket are images of the central figures depicted on the Union Banner made for the Federation’s centenary in 2018: Ebenezer Dash, the Federation’s second President, and Miss Miller, twice elected unopposed as President of the Infants’ Mistresses’ Association and member of Executive for 1919. The jacket is now part of the Dash Archive which may be viewed in the library.
