The Falcon Street, North Sydney structure depicted in Squire Morgan's print contains eight classrooms built in 1914, first occupied in 1915. Background of North Sydney Boy's High School can be found in: Storey, H.M. (Henry Mackintosh) "History of North Sydney High School 1912-1962", Crows Nest, N.S.W.: North Sydney Boys' High School, c1962. It states "Over its portals, however, was inscribed not '1915' but '1913'. This as we shall see, was involved in a small but important error of one year, but it makes it clear enough that what was opened in 1915 was a new building and not a new school."
The artist Squire Morgan was born in Randwick, Sydney. His works have been published by Pepperday & Co., W.A. and Valentine Publishing Co. His work was exhibited at The Royal Art Society of N.S.W. in their early days.
