"The first Indigenous Expenditure Report was released on 28 February 2011. It contains estimates of the levels and patterns of government expenditure on services relating to Indigenous Australians in 2008-09. The Indigenous Expenditure Report itself makes no assessment of the adequacy of government expenditure. However, the estimates in the report, when combined with other information (such as levels of Indigenous disadvantage) can contribute to a better understanding of the adequacy, effectiveness and efficiency of government expenditure on services to Indigenous Australians. The Report was prepared for the Council of Australian Governments (COAG) under the auspices of the Ministerial Council for Federal Financial Relations. It was overseen by the Indigenous Expenditure Report Steering Committee, comprising representatives from all Australian, State and Territory Government Treasuries and specialist data agencies, and supported by a Secretariat from the Productivity Commission."--Publisher's website. |
