Text engraved on plaque: This club was officially opened by the Hon. K.G. Booth, M.P., Treasurer of N.S.W. on the 10th July, 1982. B.L. Manefield, President, V.N. Saville, Secretary Manager.
Report from Education, vol. 63 no. 10, 21 June 1982, p. 5: "NEW CLUB OPENS. The Teachers Club will open in a new site at the corner of Sussex and Bathurst Streets on Saturday, 10th July. The Club will be operating in new premises made possible by the Teachers Federation. The Club would appreciate your attendance at the official opening and your patronage whenever you’re in the city. The club will feature a top Greek restaurant, with access for children in the company of adults. The official opening will be a gala occasion with a top band and entertainment and a buffet meal. Tickets may be obtained either from The Club or by contacting Linda Kepitis on 267 6021. -- John Hennessy."
