A collection of 14 bannerettes made for the NSWTF Centenary Exhibition, 2018. Each bannerette highlights a Federation Association. These sectional associations no longer exist.

"The bannerettes are made of dark blue silk fabric with a border of red silk fabric, with synthetic gold fringing on lower edge. Screen printed gold lettering of Association names have been printed on each banner. The backing fabric is pure cotton. A wooden rod is threaded through pocket at top of each banner, to which is attached a gold painted wooden finial, custom made, at each end of rod and gold cord for hanging. Concept modelled on bannerettes in Sydney Trades Hall collection. The bannerettes were made by Karen Coote." -- Karen Coote, Conservator, 11.10.19.
The Assistants' Association was formed in June 1916 and was one of the most powerful of the associations, having over two thousand members at its peak. A. G. Gilchrist was the first President of the Assistants' Association and was in this position when he was elected first President of the NSW Teachers Federation in 1919. The Assistants' Association was dissolved March 31st, 1937. Education March 15, 1937 p. 134, Education April 15, 1937 p. 166.
