Trainee teachers receive $12 a week! How would you manage on that? It's less than the age pension, $12 a week for two years. Is this the value you place on the future teachers of your children? |
| Don't just turn the well known Australian blind eye to the problem, hoping it will disappear... It won't. |
| Teachers are at present being recruited overseas and are being given a $500 displacement allowance for just coming here. Apparently Mr. Askin places a far higher value on the imported rather than the Australian. |
| But don't sit there reading this and then pass the blame on to Mr. Askin - who in term will blame the Commonwealth. (Common what!?) |
| It's going to affect you. It's going to affect your child. Because at $12 a week the really dedicated might enroll for the teaching profession - but what about the dedicated who just won't be able to afford to. |
| And not only this generation but the next will blame you. How about asking your local member why the students have had to wait two years for an increase - and why some of them missed out altogether? |

| Or write to Mr. Cutler care of the Department. After all, you can afford the stamp. You're not trying to live on $12 a week! |
