Additional text: Venue: Federation Auditorium, 37 Reservoir Street, Surry Hills; Speakers: Invited speakers for 2008 include Catharine Lumby, Professor of Journalism and Media, Centre for Social Research in Journalism and Communications, University of NSW; Theme: The theme for this year’s Conference is “Getting Real” and the day will focus on women teacher unionists ‘getting real’ in activism, on professional issues, on workload, on body image and issues for female students as well as on campaigns of importance for women. Workshops: Workshops will be based around a number of relevant professional and industrial issues for women teachers, such as: work/life balance, leave and working conditions, young women and body image, casual and temporary teachers, sex-based harassment, dignity and respect in the workplace, campaigning and the use of technology, bargaining for NSW women workers. Registration: Registration will commence at 8.15 am in the foyer and the conference will commence at 9 am sharp. Who can attend?: All financial women members of the NSW Teachers Federation are welcome to attend. Country delegates: As in previous years Federation will fund one female delegate from each country association and five Aboriginal delegates from rural areas as well as five country delegates form TAFE. Association Secretaries have registration and travel and accommodation forms. Country Associations may choose to fund additional delegates. Please note that country participants musts return their registration and travel and accommodation forms by no later than March 14 to enable Federation to access the best travel and accommodation arrangements. City delegates: City delegates should contact their Association Secretary for details on how to register or ring Federation Women’s Coordinator Siobhan Callan on (02) 9217 2100 or 1300 654 369 and register over the phone. Registrations close the week before the conference for city delegates only. Child care: Child care is available.
