Summary Note "Augmented reality (AR) has become part of our everyday lives, through platforms such as Pokémon Go and filters on social media. When creating such AR-infused visuals, users make meaningful choices for purposeful communication. AR therefore provides teachers with opportunities for leveraging this technology for literacy learning and teaching, and supports the development of multimodal literacies. This book aims to bridge the gap between personal digital practices and formal pedagogical practices, introducing a pedagogical framework to empower primary literacy teachers to add the use of AR apps to their literacy teaching toolkit. The book reviews several AR apps and presents three case studies of their use in a primary school setting. Drawing on the pedagogical framework for enhancing multimodal literacies with AR, these examples will serve as a guide for teachers looking to grow their literacy pedagogy. These skills are becoming increasingly critical for supporting students as they navigate complex communication demands in an ever-changing literacy landscape." - Back cover.
