Summary Note "This resource strives to support teachers and educational leaders in aligning the Disability Standards for Educations (The Standards) and the Nationally Consistent Collection of Data on School Students with Disability (NCCD) in a practical and efficient manner. It advocates for the inclusion of all students and actions the latest Review of the Disability Standards for Education recommendation, to strengthen information and resources for educators and education providers (2021). Building on the collective work of education system leaders, psychologists, researchers and practitioners, the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-5) descriptions of disabilities are presented in alignment with the four NCCD disability categories being Cognitive, Physical, Sensory, Social and Emotional disabilities. Common functional consequences of specific disabilities along with a broad list of adjustments are also presented to provide teachers with potential adjustments that may assist in enhancing student engagement based on the functional impact of specific disabilities. In brief, the purpose of this book is to provide educators with potential considerations that can be used in the proactive planning and the personalisation of adjustments to respond to the needs of your individual students." - Preface.
