"This study reports the findings of a correlational analysis of work-related stress conducted with 204 teachers in six Hunter Region secondary schools. Data on perceived levels of work-related stress, workload and job satisfaction were collected using self-report questionnaires during Term 2, 1989. A causal model was developed showing hypothesized relationships between aspects of the teaching contest, perceived workload, satisfaction with teaching and work-related stress. Measures were refined and the model tested using multiple linear regression analysis to produce discrete patterns of causation relating to four aspects of stress isolated in the study: stress arising form staff tensions and conflict, stress from time pressure, stress from students and classroom conditions, and stress from lack of rewards and recognition." -- Abstract.
