Our place in time /
Collection code: Artworks. The painting was inspired by conversations between the artist and Aboriginal members at the 2014 NSW Teachers Federation Aboriginal Members Conference. Suggestions were given to her on small pieces of paper; her aim was to incorporate all of those suggestions into the painting. A brochure, "Our place in time", prepared as part of the Federation's centenary celebrations in 2018, includes the artist's explanations of the major elements of the work, Thirrithir - the willy wagtail, the smoking ceremony, the youth, the feather, the Elder, and the spirit.
