It is a selection of entries from the Sam Lewis Peace Awards. These were introduced in 1983 by the Federation as a tribute to Sam Lewis and to encourage attitudes of peace, understanding and tolerance among young people in New South Wales schools and colleges.” – Introduction. Includes visual art entries and written expressions. "These awards were proposed by the [Disarmament] committee in 1982 as a means of promoting education for peace and disarmament among young people. The public launching took place on April 19, 1983.
